PRODUCT APPRAISAL/APPLICATION

Bench fume hoods are indispensable and a pre-requisite in practically all chemical laboratories that handle toxins and hazardous chemical fumes and effluents. Fume hoods capture the fumes/effluents released during any given experiment, contain them in the enclosure and then emit through their well-designed exhaust system.

Laboratory fume hoods are one of the most important components used to protect laboratory personnel from exposure to hazardous chemicals and agents used in the laboratory. When used properly, they can provide an effective backup safety device for the containment and exhaust of toxic, offensive or flammable materials when the containment of an experiment or procedure fails and vapors or dust escape from the apparatus being used.

Fume hoods are conceptualized and designed to provide a work area which is free from all the potentially hazardous fumes or chemical effluents that may be emitted during the course of a given experiment or procedure in a laboratory. Fume hoods capture the fumes released during an experiment by drawing fresh air from the environment, past the user into the unit & this way the concentration of the chemical fumes/effluents is kept at the minimum possible levels in and around the breathing zone of the user. 

CONSTRUCTION DETAILS

Fume hoods are developed to be used as semi closed ventilated enclosures so as to protect the user from harmful and toxic fumes and vapors emitted during the course of a given experiment. Hence the material of construction of all the fume hoods is carefully chosen & is fabricated out of thick commercial wooden boards covered with laminated sheets and lined completely with epoxy coating(Optionally Interiors coated with Asbestos sheets or covered with FRP Lining as per requirement). The work table is made of heavy duty construction material fortified with acid /Alkali resistant glazed tiles/Granite. The work bench is provided with a small wash basin/sink made of stainless steel for inlet & outlet of water. Fume hoods are provided with a sliding sash made out of special grade shatter proof acrylic glass/ Perspex sheet duly framed in aluminum frame with sliding motion and counter weight balanced mechanism along with storage compartments underneath the work station for fuller utilization of space. These units ensure efficient Illumination level on the work table. The unit is equipped with heavy- duty exhaust system, comprising of dynamically balanced high speed motor, Gas cock & front control panel fitted with 15/5 Ampere socket with switches for exhaust fan & fluorescent light. Suitable to work on 220/230 Volts, 50 Hz, AC supply.

EXHAUST ASSEMBLY

Heavy duty Exhaust system is incorporated in the Fume Hoods. The Exhaust assembly consists of an efficient motor, which operates with Minimum noise levels. Using a Dynamic Machine, the Motor Assembly is both statically and dynamically balanced ensuring Minimum vibration and noise levels. The rating, speed & capacity of the Blower is designed on the basis of the SIZE & VOLUME of the FUME HOOD. The blower assembly is directly connected with suitable exhaust ducting, which is made of PVC pipes with suitable bends & joints.

ILLUMINATION & NOISE LEVEL

Fume Hoods ensure that adequate level of Illumination is available on the work table with the help of diffused glare free fluorescent tube light arrangement. The fume hoods are designed to generate lower noise levels.

POWER REQUIREMENTS

Suitable to operate on 220/230 Volts, Single phase, 50 Hertz, AC supply.
